Ski Boot Spares, Repairs and Fitting
Heel retainers are ideal for skiers who experience only slight looseness around the heel area, especially in older boots where the liner has “packed down”, or in situations where a new boot has been bought slightly on the large side.
Heel retainers sit between the inner boot and the shell and are simply slotted onto the back of the liner. They compress the material around the base of the heel and lower leg to tighten the ankle hold and improve heel retention.
Heel retainers are available in various sizes, to view them Click here. or if you need help or advice please call us on 01539 734701
Sore ankle bones are a real ski boot fit problem, especially for men. Men suffer more than women because they tend to have bigger, more pronounced ankle bones. It is nearly always the internal ankle that is the problem. This is because it is the bigger of the 2 ankles, sits higher up the leg and most people tend to collapse towards the inside (pronate ) with weight on the foot.
If there is only slight pressure on the ankle bone, a doughnut stuck on the outside of the inner boot around the ankle bone will help to reduce pressure as the bone will be located into the hole/pocket.
For more severe ankle rubbing an ankle stretch is needed using a boot stretcher. A customised insole is also recommended as this will help to realign the foot and reduce the collapsing/pronating.
We have a quite few different doughnuts available, to view them Click here. or if you need help or advice please call us on 01539 734701
Shin Gel Pads and Shaped Gel Pads
Sore shins are a skiers and boot fitters nightmare as there can be several reasons why the shins are painful.
Typical examples are boots that are too stiff, socks that are too thick or made of the wrong materials, old boots with little padding within the tongue, shin splints etc..
Shin pads stick to the bare leg underneath the ski sock and help by distributing pressure more evenly thereby removing painful hotspots. The Epithilium pads are also excellent shock absorbers and work particularly well with more agggressive skiers who tend to puash through the front of their boots more.
